Is the power supply cord unplugged?
Plug into a grounded 3 prong outlet.
Has a household fuse blown or has a circuit breaker tripped?
Replace the fuse or reset the circuit breaker. If the problem continues call an electrician.
Is the drawer completely closed and the drawer latch locked?
Open the drawer and ensure the latch is in the locked position by pressing down on the latch (pictured below). Close the drawer and run another cycle to verify the problem was the latch.
Is the key-knob turned to ON (on key-knob console models) and have you pressed the Foot-Actuated Start button?
Turn the key-knob to ON and press the foot-actuated start button in with your toe to start the compacting cycle.
Is the key-knob turned to ON (on key-knob console models) and did you press ON before pressing START?
The removable key-knob (located behind the drawer) must be set to ON. Press ON before pressing START to begin the compacting cycle.
Is the compactor plugged in to a power outlet that is controlled by a wall switch?
It is possible the compactor power cord is plugged into an outlet controlled by a wall switch. This can occur when the wall switch was meant for a garbage disposal outlet.
