Not Removing Odor or Vapor - Downdraft

Possible Solution

Does the filter need to be cleaned or replaced?

The filters should be cleaned when the filter light illuminates, which typically occurs every 20-30 hours of cooking, depending on cooking intensity. Regular cleaning helps with optimal extraction performance.  The charcoal filter should only be used with a recirculating installation. The charcoal filter should be replaced approximately every 150 hours of operation or when odor removal becomes less effective.

  1. Remove the inlet nozzle by lifting it upward.
  2. Remove the stainless steel grease filter.
  3. Clean filter (the grease filter is dishwasher safe).
  4. Reinsert the filter.

Is there air movement, a draft, or a restriction in the room?

Other air movement devices, such as ceiling fans, air conditioner registers, etc., can create air currents that interfere with downdraft ventilation. To improve the performance of the downdraft vent system, turn off or limit the device creating the air currents.

The air that is exhausted by the unit must be replaced. If a room or house is too "tight," the unit may not vent properly, and more air will need to be introduced into the environment. Some air conditioning and heating units do allow for make-up air. IMPORTANT: Observe all governing codes and ordinances when installing this product.

Is the control set correctly?
