Burner Turns Off During Cooking - Induction

Possible Solution

Are you cooking at a higher level?

For safety concerns, the cooktop will automatically turn off if it has been on for a longer period of time.  

  • Cooktop set to level 9 for 60 minutes
  • Cooktop set to level 8 for 120 minutes

Is the cooktop too hot?

The control panel switches off because of excessively high temperatures. The internal temperature of the electronic parts is too high. Please wait for the cooktop to cool down before using it again. Also, ensure that the vent was installed correctly as per the installation instructions.

Is the cooktop properly ventilated?

The cooktop needs to have proper ventilation for optimal performance.  Poor ventilation can cause:

  • Cooktop overheating and shutting down
  • Longer heating and/or boiling times

 Refer to the Installation Instructions for specific venting information. 

Are you trying to cook with an empty pan/pot?

If you have placed an empty pan or pot on one of the cooking areas and started the cooktop, it may trigger this error code. 

  1. Turn off the burner
  2. Remove the pan/pot
  3. Add food or liquid
  4. Move the pan/pot to the cooking area and start the cooktop

Are there any objects in the control area?

Remove any objects left on the control area and/or wipe any debris from the control panel surface. An object, liquid, or food putting pressure on the control panel causes this error. For example, Water on the HMI due to spillage from a pot may trigger this error code.
NOTE: Use the control lock to avoid accidentally turning on while cleaning.

Is the correct cookware being used? 

Only use pots and pans made from ferromagnetic material that are suitable for use with an induction cooktop.

  • To determine whether a pot is suitable, a magnet may be used to check whether the pot is magnetic.
  • The quality and structure of the pot base can alter cooking performance. Some indications for the base's diameter do not correspond to the actual diameter of the ferromagnetic surface. Some pots and pans have only a part of the bottom in a ferromagnetic material, with parts in another material that is not suitable for induction cooking. These areas may heat up at different levels or with lower temperatures. In certain cases, where the bottom is made mainly of non-ferromagnetic materials, the cooktop might not recognize the pan and, therefore, not switch on the cooking zone.

Is the pot the correct size?

To ensure that the cooktop functions properly, use pots of a suitable minimum diameter. Always use the cooking zone that best corresponds to the minimum diameter of the bottom of the pot. Place the pot, making sure it is well centered on the cooking zone in use. It is recommended not to use pots that exceed the perimeter of the cooking zone in use.

  • Maximum 1/2" overlapping of pots or pans

  • Oversized pans may decrease performance. Minimum diameter of pot/pan base for the different cooking areas is given in the images below:
