Oven Not Pre-Heating - Wall Oven

Possible Solution

Was the Wall Oven Installed Correctly?

If the wall oven was not wired properly, the heating element may not turn on. If you are not sure the oven is properly grounded or wired, check with a qualified electrical installer.

Here are some items to check:

  • Connect directly to the fused disconnect (or circuit breaker box) through a flexible, armored, or nonmetallic sheathed copper cable (with grounding wire). See the “Make Electrical Connection” section in the "Installation Instructions."
  • Be sure that the electrical connection and wire size are adequate and in conformance with the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70 – latest edition or CSA Standards C22.1-94, Canadian Electrical Code, Part 1 and C22.2 No. O-M91 – latest edition, and all local codes and ordinances.
  • Ensure the wires were connected properly based on installation type; 3 or 4 wire connection.  See pictures below

See your model's "Installation Instructions" for all the installation requirements.

Does the Wall Oven have the correct amperage?

If the wall oven does not have the proper amperage, the heating element may not turn on.

  • The oven must be connected to the proper electrical voltage and frequency as specified on the model/serial number rating plate, which is located on the right mounting rail.
  • Models rated from 7.3 to 9.6 kW at 240 volts (5.5 to 7.2 kW at 208 volts) require a separate 40-amp circuit. Models rated at 7.2 kW and below at 240 volts (5.4 kW and below at 208 volts) require a separate 30-amp circuit.

See your model's "Installation Instructions" for all the installation requirements.

Has a household circuit breaker tripped or the fuse blown?

Check to ensure a household fuse has not blown or a circuit breaker has tripped. If necessary, reset the circuit breaker or replace the fuse. If the problem continues, contact a licensed electrician.

If not resolved, please note the following:

  • Do not continue to attempt to operate the wall oven.
  • Disconnect the power cord and/or turn off the circuit breaker that controls the appliance.
