How to Clean and Care for Stainless Steel Surfaces

What type of Stainless Steel finish does your Jenn-Air  appliance have?

Each type of Stainless Steel finish requires a different method of cleaning.  Please see each finish type below for proper cleaning instructions. For additional information, you can also reference your Jenn-Air Owner's Manual.

Finish Type Cleaning Method
Traditional Stainless Steel
  • Wash surfaces with warm, soapy water, liquid detergent, and a nonabrasive sponge. Always rub evenly in the direction of the grain.
  • Use a clean microfiber or soft clean cloth to polish and dry.
  • Ensure all surfaces are dry. Water that is not completely dried off can cause discoloration—water may contain iron, which will initiate this discoloration.

IMPORTANT: To avoid damage to the finish, do not use abrasive clothes, paper towels, or newsprint, steel wool pads, abrasive powders, ammonia, citrus-based cleaners, vinegar-based cleaners, or oven cleaners. Using any of these products could damage the finish of your appliance and is not covered by the manufacturer's warranty.

To Restore Luster or Remove Stains

Use affresh® Stainless Steel Brightener to help clear away rust stains and remove heat discoloration and yellowing on traditional stainless steel surfaces.

Shake well. Use a soft, dry cloth or paper towel to apply a small amount to the stainless steel surface, rubbing in the direction of the grain. Let stand 2-3 minutes, then lightly scrub in the direction of the grain. Rinse surface with water or wipe clean with a damp, soft cloth or paper towel to remove any residual product. Repeat if necessary.

Cleans even where you can't see

affresh® cleans deep inside your appliances reaching components such as the tub, racks, pump, valves, drain, and recirculation hoses.

Cleaners are available at many retailers or can be purchased here.
