Mullion is Warm/Hot - Refrigerator

Possible Solutions

Is it normal?

At times, the refrigerator exterior may feel even warmer than usual, especially where the gaskets meet the frame.  These areas are the mullion and cabinet flanges. This heat is generated by a heat loop located within the refrigerator walls near the gasket areas. This heat is necessary to keep moisture and frost from forming on the refrigerator exterior. This could last up to 24 hours.

Does the condenser need to be cleaned?

If the refrigerator exterior continually feels hot in these areas, check the condenser for excessive dirt or debris and clean if necessary. Airflow blocked by lint, pet hair and dirt will cause the condenser and heat loop temperature to increase. There is typically no need for routine condenser cleaning in a normal home operating environment. However, if the environment is particularly greasy or dusty, or there is significant pet traffic in the home, the condenser should be cleaned every 2 to 6 months to ensure maximum efficiency.

If the condenser needs to be cleaned, contact an authorized service provider

Is the Energy Saver feature being used?

The Energy Saver Feature controls a heater, that helps to reduce moisture on the vertical hinged seal. When the heater is turned on, it may cause the mullion or vertical hinge to become warm.
