Door is difficult to Close - Undercounter Refrigerator

Possible Solutions

Are food packages or beverage bottles blocking the door open?

Rearrange containers so that they fit more tightly and take up less space.

Are the shelves or racks out of position?

Put the shelves or racks back into their correct position.  For additional information, see "Refrigerator Shelves" in your "Owner's Manual."

Does the door gasket seem dirty or sticky?

The gasket needs to be cleaned for the lid or door to open and close properly. Dirt and other particles can build up on the gasket surface and can cause resistance. Clean the gasket and the surface that it touches. Rub a thin coat of paraffin wax on the gasket following cleaning.

Is the refrigerator level?

Your refrigerator has four leveling legs. If your refrigerator seems unsteady or you want the door to close more easily, adjust the refrigerator's tilt by following the instructions in your "Owner's Manual."

If the refrigerator is not level, it could have the following problems:

  • Door not properly closing
  • Door not properly sealing (moisture build-up)
