Cleaning the Drawer Interior
Routine Cleaning for a JennAir Warming Drawer
Routine cleaning keeps your KitchenAid warming drawer sanitary, prevents burnt-on food odors, and preserves the stainless steel finish. Follow these simple steps to safely remove grease, stubborn baked-on spills, and maintain interior wire racks without scratching the surface.
Safety Checklist: Before You Begin
- Turn off all controls: Verify that the warming drawer temperature control is switched completely OFF.
- Allow to cool completely: Ensure the interior drawer cavity, bottom heating area, and wire racks are cool to the touch before touching or spraying cleaners.
- Wipe acidic spills immediately: Food spills containing acids (such as tomato sauce, lemon juice, or vinegar) can permanently etch and discolor the finish. Clean these spills as soon as the appliance reaches room temperature

Step-by-Step Interior Cleaning Instructions
Routine Everyday Cleaning
Use this method for light grease, dust, and daily maintenance:
- Prepare solution: Mix warm water with a mild dish soap, or use an all-purpose spray cleaner or glass cleaner.
- Wash: Apply the solution using a non-abrasive plastic scrubbing pad, microfiber cloth, or paper towel.
- Rinse: Wipe down the interior with a clean, water-dampened cloth to remove all soap film.
- Dry: Thoroughly dry the cavity with a soft cloth to prevent water spots and streaking.
Stubborn Stains & Baked-On Residue
For heavy food splatters, heat-tinted oils, or baked-on residue on stainless steel surfaces:
- Apply approved cleaner: Use a dedicated stainless steel cleaner (such as affresh® Stainless Steel Cleaner) or a mildly abrasive liquid cleanser on a damp cloth or non-scratch sponge.
- Follow the metal grain: Always rub in the direction of the stainless steel grain lines. Scrubbing across the grain can create permanent micro-scratches.
- Rinse and buff: Wipe clean with a damp towel to remove all chemical residue, then buff completely dry. Repeat if necessary.
Cleaning the Wire Racks
- Remove the wire racks from the drawer for easier access.
- Clean using warm, soapy water and a steel-wool scouring pad to lift baked-on residue. (Note: Steel wool is safe for the chrome/stainless wire racks, but never use steel wool on the drawer interior walls or drawer front).
- Rinse with clean water and dry completely before placing back into the drawer.
