Not Dispensing Water - Built-In Refrigerator

Possible Solutions

Was the water filter recently replaced?

If the water filter was just replaced or installed, ensure that it was installed correctly.  An improperly installed water filter could reduce or stop water flow, decrease ice production, cause leaks from the filter housing, or lead to other concerns. Check to make sure the water filter is locked into place, creating a proper seal. To check the installation, remove the water filter from the housing and try to dispense some water.  If water dispenses, the water filter was installed improperly; reinstall the water filter.

Does the water filter need to be replaced?

It is recommended that the JennAir water filter be replaced every 6 months, when the indicator light comes on, or as needed. Replacing your water filter regularly helps to ensure a continual supply of cleaner, fresh-tasting drinking water. Depending on your usage and water quality, it may need to be changed more frequently.  A clogged or incorrectly installed water filter can reduce the water flow to the ice maker and dispenser, potentially causing low ice production and a slowed water flow. JennAir recommends using everydrop® water filters. Find the right replacement filter for your refrigerator, and make the simple switch for clean water year-round.

Was the water filter flushed?

Flushing the system is needed every time the filter is changed or when it is first installed. Flushing your refrigerator water filter is a key step that reduces excess air, prepares the filter for use, and removes excess carbon. Air in the water system may cause dripping at the dispenser, small or hollow ice cubes, or a cloudy appearance in the water quality.  The amount of water needed to flush the water filter varies depending on the specific filter.  Some filters require 1, 2, or 4 gallons to be dispensed for a proper flush; refer to the water filter's instructions for specific guidelines.

Is the Control Lock Activated?

The water dispenser can be turned off for easy cleaning or to avoid unintentional dispensing by small children and pets. It simply deactivates the dispenser controls and pad.

Is "water" selected?

On some models, dispensing is based on what is selected on the display.  Check the Owner's Manual for specific information about your refrigerator.

Is the dispenser paddle or pad fully engaged?

If the dispenser paddle or pad is not fully engaged, the dispenser will not dispense ice and/or water.  Ensure the glass engages the paddle or switch by firmly pressing the pad or paddle.

How to Dispense Water or Ice

  1. Select water or ice on the display (Depending on the Model).
  2. Firmly press a sturdy glass against the dispenser paddle.
  3. Remove the glass to stop dispensing.

NOTE:  Please see your Owner's Manual for specific information on dispensing water and/or ice for your model.
