Removing and Replacing the Warming Drawer

How to Remove or Replace the JennAir Warming Drawer

Removing your JennAir warming drawer makes deep cleaning, finding your model rating plate, or performing maintenance simple. Because warming drawers feature heavy-duty slide glides rated up to 100 lbs (45 kg), following the proper latch release sequence protects both the internal glide mechanism and your cabinetry.

Pre-Removal Safety Checklist

  • Power off and cool: Confirm the warming drawer is switched completely OFF and the cavity has cooled to room temperature.
  • Empty the drawer: Remove all cookware, pans, and wire racks to reduce weight before lifting.
  • Prepare a staging area: Place a blanket, drop cloth, or cardboard on the floor nearby so you can rest the drawer without scratching the faceplate or floor.

Step-by-Step Instructions

How to Remove the Warming Drawer

  1. Extend the drawer: Pull the drawer out smoothly until it stops at its fully extended position.
  2. Locate the release tabs: Find the black plastic levers positioned along the metal slide tracks on both sides of the drawer.
  3. Disengage the latches simultaneously: Right side: Press the black tab down. Left side: Lift the black tab up.
  4. Release the stop catch: While holding both tabs in position, pull the drawer outward about one additional inch until the latches disengage from the tracks.
  5. Lift and remove: Release the plastic tabs, grip the drawer firmly by the sides (do not lift by the front handle or faceplate), and pull the drawer straight out of the cabinet cavity.

How to Replace the Warming Drawer

  1. Align the slide rails: Extend the cabinet receiving slides slightly. Align the drawer-side rails evenly with the cabinet slide tracks.
  2. Slide into place: Keeping the drawer level, push it forward smoothly into the cavity until it glides all the way in.
  3. Engage the locking latches: Push firmly at the very end until you hear or feel the release levers click into their locked position.
  4. Test slide operation: Slowly open and close the drawer 2–3 times to verify that both glides are seated squarely and movement is smooth.
